FOREST is the official Hungarian entry for the upcoming Academy Awards
November. 11. 2003.
At the meeting of the Selection Committee for Academy Awards Entry held on August 12th, was announced that Hungary will enter Forest by Benedek Fliegauf for consideration for the Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.

The members of the Committee were representatives of the following Hungarian professional organisations:

Gábor Dettre – Association of Hungarian Film Artists
László Hartai – Hungarian Directors Guild
László Sipos – Hungarian Producers Association
Gábor Szabó – Hungarian Society of Cinematographers
Miklós Szita – Hungarian Independent Producers Association

Forest, a first feature film of the young director has already won international recognition.
At the Hungarian Film Week Forest was awarded the Gene Moskowitz Prize, the Prize of the Best Producer - András Muhi, Inforg Studio – and the Simó Sándor Prize for Best First Film.
Fliegauf’s feature film was screened with success at the Forum of the Berlinale and won the Wolfgang Staudte Prize.
The evaluation of the Jury was: “Finely balancing stylisation and realism, the film uncompromisingly and with great originality ventures into the secrets of time and the moments within its flow. Moments in which the appearance and disappearance of the individual and his inner wilderness of thoughts, longings, fears and hopes remains for him the darkest of all mysteries.”
Forest also received a Special Prize of the Jury in Lagów, Poland at the Lubuskie Film Summer in June.

Forthcoming presentations of Forest at international film festivals:
- Montreal The World Film Festival
- Toronto International Film Festival
- Chicago International Film Festival
- Athen Opening Nights International Film Festival
- Figueira da Foz International Film Festival
