The creators intention was to represent past events on an emotional basis, reconstruct human stories in a way which would touch people of all ages: both those who have lived through these critical times and those generations who have only read about this era in history books and heard stories about it from others.
The lead, member of the Hungarian water polo team is played by Iván Fenyő, his girlfriend, a revolutionary, student of the technical university is played by Kata Dobó, their friend, another water polo player by Sándor Csányi. Viktória Szávai, Zsolt Huszár, Péter Haumann, Ági Szirtes, Zoltán Schmied and Roland Rába are going to play important roles int he movie.
Krisztián Kolovratnik, Kornél Simon and Róbert Marton are going to play in the water polo team in the film coached by Tibor Benedek Tibor. Zoltán Szécsi, Bulcsú Székely and Gergő Kiss are joining the cast from the Hungarian National Water Polo Team – the Golden Team. Károly Gesztesi is going to play their coach.
The Hungarian- British co-production is directed by Krisztina Goda. The screenplay of Freedom’s Fury was written by Joe Eszterhás with Géza Bereményi, Réka Divinyi and Éva Gárdos. Director of photography is János Vecsernyés, line-producer Tamás Zákonyi, set designer László Rajk, costume designer Pásztor Beatrix, stunt expert Piroch Gábor, and Digic Pictures is in charge of the special effects.
Pre-production works, rehearsals and the physical training of the actors is currently underway; everything is ready for the shooting to start shortly. Shooting will take approximately 9 weeks with exclusively Hungarian cast and crew, on original locations such as in front of the Houses of Parliament, at the Technical University, on Bem square and in Alfréd Hajós swimming pool.
Hungarian opening for the movie is planned to be 23 October 2006.
