Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg left the island of Malta, to the great disappointment of the local press –The Times of Malta wrote.

The film by the working title Muenchen deals with the effects of the hostage tragedy at the 1972 Muenchen Olympic, when 11 Israeli athletes were murdered by Palestinian terrorists in Germany. The director intends to voice strong criticism concerning the Israeli secret service Mossad.
Spielberg and his crew shot certain scenes that actually took place in Israel in Malta, since the island welcomed the crew and it appeared to be a safer and cheaper location than the Jewish state.

However, tight security measures were introduced during the shooting after a truck with its high-tech load to be used by the filmmakers was annihilated in a mysterious explosion.
As a result, Spielberg decided to shun the press. So far, they only released censored material to the press, but a member of the crew leaked information anbout the story line to Israeli papers.

Spielberg is already here!
The production is already in Hungary, but based on the experience of the Maltese press, it won’t be easí to interview the influential Hollywood director.

So far, Spielberg and his crew have been mean to the local press, too. The local coproduction partner is not saying anything, so it’s not public yet how many of the actors are here and whether there will be tight security measures introduced here as well.
