Reform Issues
Proposals for Film Financing
The Hungarian Motion Picture Fund (MMK), which is the key distributor of state film financing, is by definition the chief coordinator of the reform processes in the Hungarian film industry. In his letter written to MMK’s board members, Ferenc Grunwalsky, the chairman of the board suggested a number of measures in order to improve the system of financing and control. His suggestions concern reforming the system of applications for support, introducing stricter control measures and making benefits more attractive for investors.
Cartoonists Unite
Animators Form Body to Protect their Interests
The Professional Union of Hungarian Animators (Manifeszt) officially launched on Sept. 22. The organization aims to represent the Hungarian animation industry as a whole – by providing professional continuity and by reaching out to audiences, because interest in Hungarian cartoons has been diminishing in the past years, and local viewers are unaware of the latest Hungarian cartoons.
