Lovasi in the Lead Role of the KVB Movie
The shoting of Nyári sztornó, the new feature film by Közgáz Visual Brigade launched in early August in Pécs. The protagonist of the psychological thriller is András Lovasi, the lead singer of the band Kispál és Borz.

László Kántor Becomes EFA Member
László Kántor was the delegated producer of eleven films – mostly international coproductions – between 1999 and 2005 (Torzók, Szezon, Dallas Pashamende etc.). He has produced many documentaries and shorts and participated in organizing local and international festivals. As the head of Budapest and New Budapest Filmstudios he has won more than thirty awards at Hungarian and international festivals.

Katapult Summer
After Fehér tenyér by Szabolcs Hajdu, Katapult Film will present four other films in the near future. Dániel Erdélyi directs an ethno-horror, Ferenc Török a yuppie movie, Diána Groó is composing a family chronicle to Mahler’s music and Bálint Kenyeres is making an extreme short film.
16 in the countryside, 4 in Budapest
200 million for Art Cinemas
The 20 art cinemas that applied for support at the National Cultural Heritage Ministry in February won altogether Ft 200. The sum – a maximum of Ft 30 million – is to be spent on development.
16 countryside cinemas won Ft 170 million altogether, 4 cinemas in Budapest will share Ft 30 million. Cinema operators must execute developments by June 30, 2006.

Gyula Hernádi Dies
Kossuth Prize-winning writer Gyula Hernádi, 79, Miklós Jancsó’s long-time creative partner died yesterday night. He was an outstanding figure of Hungarian literature and cinematic arts. In the past years he also appreared in Jancsó movies, where the two old masters played with the notion of death in an ironic way.

"Fellini of the East" Directs Báthory Picture
While the several million euro-budget production of Márta Mészáros is still waiting for Hungarian support, Slovakian director Juraj Jakubisko will launch his own project about the life of Erzsébet Báthory with Hungarian participation. Most of the EUR 10 million budget is already in place. In addition to the Czech and Slovak partners, British and Hungarian companies are involved in the project.

Varga Studio Under Liquidation
According to recent press reports, the court has ordered the liqudation of one of Hungary’s most successful and internationally renown animation studios, Varga Studio, founded by Csaba Varga and András Erkel.
