A press conference was held on the ship A38 with the British actress, the director and producer György Durst. As György Durst claimed, it was on the same ship that the creators decided to give the movie a go and the adventures of the Csoma Legendárium started. It proved to be a real adventure, both geographically since the movie was being shot in India, and professionally since it was shot on super8, with animation insets. It has been two years of “horrible struggle” first and foremost financially, but besides the financial problems the risk involved in developing super8 has been a real challenge.

The movie operates with unique visual concepts accompanied by carefully prepared sound and narration. Since the creators believe that the movie exploring the world of the little known Kőrösi Csoma and that of India is expected to arouse international interest on film festivals world wide, therefore they have already prepared the English version of the narration.

Mari Törőcsik narrating Csoma legends in Hungarian will evoke the folk-tale tradition that has been preserved in the Hungarian language. Oscar nominee for her role in They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? Susannah York, has been asked to narrate the English version.

Susannah York arrived in Hungary three days ago. She was invited by Szemző completely unexpectedly a few weeks ago. She first spoke to László Magács (director of the Merlin Theatre) on the phone and later with the director himself, and has made the final decision after having read the text itself. She was impressed by the zen that filtered through the text, the underlying poetic representation of the underworld- the transitory world and the afterlife, which immediately possessed her.
The text was translated into English by Tim Wilkinson, translator of the works of Imre Kertész, who is said to be the best Hungarian-English literary translator.

Csoma Legendárium (Az élet vendége) will open in Hungary at the Hungarian Film Festival (Filmszemle) and according to its producer it will open abroad at several international film festivals.
